Marsh Fritillary
The Ystradgynlais area contains the last remaining colonies of Marsh Frillary in the county of Powys. Some of which are safeguarded on Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves such as Ystradfawr and Cae Lynden.
Greater Butterfly Orchid
Vicarage Meadows Nature Reserve is one of the best sites for orchids in Powys. Other great places for orchids are some of the county's Road Verge Nature Reserves.
Red Squirrels
Red squirrels are found in three distinct areas in Wales. One of these areas spreads across the three counties of Powys, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.
