For Kids

Wildlife Watch - The Club for all wildlife fans, nature sleuths and young environmentalists!

Joining Wildlife Watch is a great way to find out more about your local wildlife, get involved in local projects and make new friends. Aimed at young people aged 8 and over, membership costs just £10 a year with members being sent:

  • Watchword - a magazine packed with wildlife stories, news, quizzes and competitions.
  • Wildlife Extra - a magazine with hot tips on wildlife watching which unfolds into a poster.
  • Ready For Action - a pocket sized guide to being a wildlife watcher.
  • Gold Award Wild Dial - there are 8 badges to collect by showing off your wildlife watching skills. If you earn all 8 badges you will receive a Gold Award.

Watch Clubs

The Trust helps several local schools run Watch clubs for their pupils. If you are interested in setting up a Watch club in your school, please contact us.

Holiday Events

During school holidays, the BWT runs activity days on its reserves which are both fun and educational. They are open to both Watch members and any interested young people (under 8's welcome if accompanied by a parent). See the Events Diary for details of forthcoming events.

For Teachers / Group leaders

Education Work

Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship is becoming an increasingly important subject in the school curriculum. As well as acting as leader to Wildlife Watch clubs based in schools in Brecknock, our Education Officer is available to assist at, or deliver, class sessions on any wildlife/environmental theme. These can be adapted to suit different primary aged children. Related art/craft and practical activities in school grounds can be incorporated.

Teachers are welcome to seek advice and borrow resources from the Trust.

School groups are welcome to visit our nature reserves (please contact us first).

Our Education Officer is available to visit playschemes.
