Reserve Work Party: Himalayan Balsam Pulling & Marsh Orchid Survey at Ystradfawr Nature Reserve. Bracken and Himalayan balsalm clearance. Marsh Orchid Survey on area 4. Saturday 4th

WALK: Flora, Forts and Folds. Starting at Craig-y-nos Country Park, this guided walk will take you up onto the top of Allt Rhongyr Nature Reserve and include an excursion around the site which features a diverse mix of limestone grassland, acidic grassland and woodland. Here you can explore the various elements of biodiversity and geodiversity, including a visit to the Iron Age hillfort and taking in the superb views of the Tawe Valley that this spot has to offer. Delivered in partnership with Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. Approx. 3.5 mile easy-moderate circular walk along footpaths and bridleways, includes short accent and decent. EVENT: Celebrate 15 years of the Biodiversity Information Service by getting involved with watching wildlife and recording! Drop-in public event with posters, displays, activities and "Question Time" to promote local wildlife recording. Click here for program. Reserve Work Party: Wildflower survey at BWT Vicarage Meadows Nature Reserve, near Abergwesyn. Come and see the rarer wildflowers at this nationally important wildflower meadow and help us survey them. We might also be lucky and see some marsh fritillary butterflies flying as well! WALK: Butterfly, lizard and plant Recording

For members and those interested in recording butterflies, flowers and lizards: Weather permitting we will spend a couple of hours at Vicarage meadows to spot flying fritillaries and maybe a lizard. Then we will go on up the valley to look at an area where there are some old records of rare plants on National Trust land. Meet at bridge SN 85368 52517 Nearest town: Abergwesyn. Post code LD5 4TP. WALK: Dragonflies, butterflies and Dayflying moths. Learn how to identify these beautiful flying insects with a walk around the common visiting streams and pools with Keith Noble. WALK: Brecon Bat Walk With Brecknock Bat Group. Learn about bat ecology, watch their behaviour and hear echo-location calls using bat detectors. Bring a torch and wear insect repellent. Marsh Fritillary habitat and larval web monitoring: Learn a simple habitat survey technique that helps us to monitor our sites. Apple Tasting & Pick Your Own

Come and visit this collection of local and rare apple varieties set up and cared for by the Marcher Apple Network.
