The Co-operative supporting the Brecknock Wildlife Trust

The Co-operative's Food and Pharmacy businesses are donating their 5p bag levy to support Welsh Wildlife Heroes projects across the six Welsh Wildlife Trusts.

Brecknock Wildlife Trust has run the following Welsh Wildlife Heroes projects:

"Mammals on your doorstep" project encouraging local communities to discover, help and record the wild mammals they share their towns and surrounding areas with. The Trust held a series of mammal discovery days across Brecknock where it showied people how to find and identify tracks and signs of mammals. Topics covered included using footprint tunnel kits, how to find harvest mice nests, identifying droppings and dissecting owl pellets.

"Wildlife Gardening" project inspiring and supporting the local communities of Brecknock in increasing the number of gardens and green spaces being actively managed to benefit wildlife. The project raised awareness of the importance of wildlife gardening, individuals were provided with information and advice on improving their gardens for wildlife and local schools and community groups were offered practical advice and help with improving their green spaces for wildlife and engaging them in making the improvements and learning about wildlife from them.
